Americas Got Talent? Where?

So I watched the season premeire of America's Got Talent last night and I have to say I want my hour back! It was a two hour program but with the magic of TIVO and the parts that I just fast forwarded through I was able to make it through this trainwreck of a show in about an hour.
First of all, where is the talent? It seems that the producers put everyone who truly sucked on stage last night. I saw a couple acts with mediocre talent but seriously, this is a million dollar competition and I saw nothing remotely worth a million dollars on the show last night. Not even anything worth more than say, $7.50!
They have Jerry Springer hosting this season because Regis is out because of his heart surgery. How can I take this show remotely seriously with Jerry Springer as a host? I don't know why they made the choice to replace someone as likeable as Regis Philbin with someone as slimy as Jerry Springer. Who made that decision? There had to have been better options. I'm just saying, I can't take the show seriously with Jerry Springer at the helm. I'm expecting people in the audience to start stripping and the contestants to run out to the judges table to punch Piers Morgan at any time.Â
Another thing is Sharon Osbourne as Brandy's replacement. Look, I like Sharon Osbourne but please… she can't handle this. When Piers ripped into a 9 year old girl last night Sharon walked off the show, back to her dressing room, pulled off her fake eyelashes and said she was going home. Piers went back there too, maybe to talk to Sharon or maybe just because with one judge gone there's no reason for any of them to be up there. So Piers and Sharon were backstage and I guess at some point someone reminded Sharon of some contract or something so she moved it back onto the stage and apologized to the little girl. Piers also apologized in his British way and they sent the little girl with the horrible cheerleading routine home. She really wasn't any good.
So why are there TWO British judges on a show about America's Got Talent? I don't get it. I really liked the show last year. I got mad at Piers a lot but as my dad points out Piers is really the only one being honest. This year at least Hasselhoff isn't letting everyone through and Sharon is tough but nice. I can't believe she was saying no to the trio of young guys singing. They call themselves The Rascals, and while they weren't fabulous, compared to almost everyone else on the show last night they shined. The judges also didn't let the acrobatic guy sliding down the sheets go through. He was absolutely beautiful and I KNOW if a female had done the EXACT same act she would have gotten through to the next round. No doubt.
The most surprising performance of the night was the very last one. The geeky saxaphone player who danced while he funked things up with the sax. He was entertaining and at least the judges recognized that fact and put him through. It was almost worth watching the show to see him, almost.Â
Not sure if this show is staying on my TIVO. I'm bitterly disappointed with this year's talent, judging and host and really not much about those elements will change during the season. Maybe they can scrape up some talent in other cities. Perhaps I'll pick it back up after the initial cuts have been made and re-check then to see if they have found any talent whatsoever.
Last Comic Standing comes on Wednesday night. I hope it's better than America's Got Talent! The commercials look pretty good but they can be misleading. Sometimes the stuff the commericals are made of are the only good parts!
