Going Postal

I really don't know if the term "Going Postal" is something that is supposed to happen when postal workers go crazy or if it's something that happens when you have to deal with the people at the post office.

The other day, it was just before 5 and I realized I had not mailed something out that needed to go certified.  So I rushed over to the post office.  It was 4:57pm when I got there.  No problem, I thought because it would only take about 60 seconds to do what I needed to do.

So, I know what time it was because my watch and car clocks both said the same thing and they are set correctly.  I run in the first door and then get to the second door, pull on it, and it's locked.

I checked my watch and as I looked up I saw the woman behind the counter lift her stupid bitch face up and smirk at me.

At that point, if I would have had any kind of weapon in my car I would have gone out and gotten it and simply blown the door off the place or knocked it down.  Then I would have walked up to the counter and asked for the certified mail form from Ms. Bitch Face.

But… that's just a silly fantasy.  I don't have any weapons and I'm not a violent person, so the post office is safe.  I guess until they piss off the wrong person…

I don't really see a reason for them to set their clocks fast.  Do they adjust them during the day?  Because they sure don't open early.

Going to the post office these days is much like going to the DMV, isn’t it? They all are snide and usually mean and snippy. The post offices that are in the rural areas, where it’s only two clerks, maybe even one, they are SO nice and helpful—-and would stay the extra five minutes for you.

I gotta get back in the country!!!

Have a great weekend—-and stay away from the post office if you can!

  2. oh girl that always happens to me too!! yeah they r always in a hurry to come out! not to check in at work at the right time!! :D

  3. People can be so rude sometimes! It just makes you want to smack em! I just got my first not so nice comment on my blog today and it was anonymous so I don’t know who the rude person is. People like that just ruin your good mood.

Our rural post office in Alberta, Canada is in a gas station. You can fill up your car, buy some beer from behind the counter and then turn and walk 5 paces over to the post office counter. Pretty handy for us, except I haven’t mailed anything in about 10 years.

  5. It’s one thing closing down the post office early; but to mock people who get there after everyone has left (but before the actual closing time) is just plain rude. You should have acted on that fantasy of yours. Or at least should have asked her what the hell she was smirking at and then proceeded to ask for a complaint form.
