Linkbait.. What Should We Offer?

What is linkbaiting? Well, some people are sneaky about it, such as when a high profile blog suddenly announces that it is shutting down and posts a sad "goodbye" message to get people talking and more importantly, linking to it. That's pretty deceitful, but not all linkbaiting has to be that way.

For instance, there are contests like this:

“Over at Ashwin’s blog, you will find one crazy blog owner!! You can win $2500!! To enter just copy this text and paste it in your blog!! But hurry, this competition will not last long! So get posting!”

Pretty cool, the blogger requires the link to enter a contest.. it's a fair, win-win situation.

You can also get a decent link for yourself from a PR4 blog by writing and posting a review of BlogCurry.com.

Lots of bloggers run competitions to create a buzz about their sites and create excitement, links and visitors. Do you think AbsolutelyTrue should run a contest? What should we offer as a prize?

A rubber duck from the ocean worth $500?

Or maybe a custom LOL Cat?

Some web design services?

A child's pool that we stole with the water included? (just kidding, we didn't steal it, Mark Steele did 88| )

Oh… I know!!! How about a V-Smile!!!!! Complete with a Thomas The Tank Engine Game!

I don't know.. what do you think? Give us some good ideas and maybe we'll run a contest! Or give a good link to us and request a blog review and we'll get it done.

I'll tell you this.. if I win the Blog For A Year Competition , whatever the money part of it is, I would  use most of it for blog promotion.. like an investment.  So maybe giving it away in competitions would be one way to go, if I win?
