4th China Recall – Pencils Have Too Much Lead

This is the fourth recall of a product from China in under a month and this one is just so ironic.  Now the pencils have too much lead!

Amscan Canada is recalling 140,000 units of the pencils made in China because the coating on the pencils contain lead.  And you know how people love to gnaw on their pencils.  No injuries have been reported as of yet because of the pencils but people are urged to take them away from children immediately.

Crayons and paint sets that had been sold at Toys R Us stores were also recalled.  Baby bibs and the "Cars" character "Sarge" have also been recalled because of lead.  ALl of these products were manufacturered in China.

I say that this recall is ironic because it's about lead in pencils… but actually pencils don't have lead in them anymore.  The stuff you write with is actually now actually graphite and has been for many years.

  1. That’s it….if it says Made in China on it, I’m not buying it. Enough is enough already, really though did they have a huge sale on lead in China so they figured they would put it in everything? LOL

P.S. Little Boys are the coolest aren’t they! I love the fact that my son loves all the boy stuff like dirt and toads. I already went through the girlie stuff with my daughter and now I get to enjoy the boy stuff.

LOL Tammy.. there must have been a sale on lead in China. This is just crazy! Every day there’s something new you shouldn’t touch from China. Before all the kids stuff it was toothpaste and let’s see.. didn’t the stuff in the dog food come from China too?

The thing is.. it’s easy to avoid things that SAY Made In China on them.. well, not easy, but you know what I mean. But who knows what ingredients come from China that are in products we use all the time?

  3. Very good information. Been looking for this but couldn’t find around the web.
