WWE Steroid Abuse Suspension Rumors
Posted by admin on October 18, 2007 · 27 Comments
Some time ago, following the Chris Benoit double murder and suicide , the WWE was questioned by Congress about their drug screening routines.
Well, I've been asking around and heard some things that may or may not be absolutely true , but I'm going to pass along these unconfirmed rumors.
Well, this first one is a fact. The wrestler who pretended to be mentally retarded, Eugene, entered rehab and his WWE contract expired. He has been released from WWE. I say good riddance. That character was in such poor taste, but what do we expect, it's WWE.
This is also fact: WWE has released the wrestling duo known as Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard and Jayson Paul). I never knew who they were anyway. I don't watch wrestling that much, although my dad follows it.
Randy Orton was reportedly not suspended but his name did turn up on a list of athletes who have done business with Signature Pharmacy.
Chris Masters may be suspended for steroid use.
I heard that Booker failed a drug screening, and rather than be suspended, he quit. After he quit, WWE reportedly fired his wife.
The biggest surprise, and maybe it's not true, however, I did get this from a reliable source, is that John Cena failed a drug screening for steroid abuse. Again, I don't want to be sued, so I stress this is a rumor. I'm sure it will come out later if it's true. The WWE storyline is that Cena is injured and will be out for at least a year. Best of luck to Cena if he is actually injured, but I think the timing is quite a coincidence.
So there's what I know, or have heard. Let's hope WWE continues to clean up the show.

Complete List of 20 past & present wrestlers listed as Signature clients
Source: New York Daily News
To recap, all in all, 20 past and present WWE wrestlers were listed as being clients of the busted Signature Pharmacy in Orlando. Of the 20 listed, 15 of them are currently contracted to WWE. Three are deceased (Brian Adams, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero), one was recently released (Sylvain Grenier), and another wrestler was on the verge of being signed this week, if he hasn't already (Johnny Stamboli).
While not 100% official, the following ten wrestlers listed appear to be the wrestlers most likely to have been suspended by WWE after Sports Illustrated revealed that every single one of them purchased drugs over the Internet through Signature Pharmacy after the institution of the WWE Wellness Policy in February 2006 – a clear violation of the policy. WWE suspended 10 wrestlers today based upon information received in the Signature bust, though not necessarily these wrestlers. Here is SI's list again:
Charlie Haas – Purchased drugs as late as January 2007.
Chavo Guerrero – Purchased drugs as late as May 2006.
Edge – Purchased drugs as late as February 2007.
Funaki – Purchased Somatropin in March 2006.
Gregory Helms – Purchased drugs as late as February 2007.
John Morrison – Purchased five different drugs as late as February 2007 .
Mr. Kennedy – Purchased three drugs between October 2006 and February 2007, including testosterone, which is an anabolic steroid. Kennedy sternly claimed in a recent interview entitled 'WWE Stopped My Steroid Use' that he completely stopped doing steroids as soon as the WWE Wellness Policy was implemented. You can read the interview at this link.
Randy Orton – Purchased drugs as late as February 2007.
Umaga – Purchased Somatropin as late as December 2006.
William Regal – Purchased drugs as late as November 2006.
Of the ten listed, two currently hold WWE Championship belts, two more are involved in a major storyline, four more are active performers, and two are out indefinitely due to injury.
The following five WWE wrestlers were listed as being clients of the Signature Pharmacy as well, but their names didn't turn up on Sports Illustrated's list. It should be noted that Anthony Carelli aka Santino Marella didn't sign a contract with WWE until 2006, and the WWE Wellness Policy was implemented early that year, so it would be wise to assume that the following wrestlers haven't been totally cleared yet in regards to a possible suspension just because their names weren't listed in the Sports Illustrated article:
Batista
Chris Masters
King Booker
Santino Marella
Simon Dean
The following five wrestlers are no longer contracted to WWE. Three are deceased, one was recently released, and Stamboli's WWE status is unclear at the moment.
Brian Adams
Chris Benoit
Eddie Guerrero
Johnny Stamboli
Sylvain Grenier

I heard Edge was on that list too…is that true?
Hey Taylor,
It wouldn’t let me leave all that I found as a comment for some reason, so I edited the post above. Short answer, yes.
We used to be big wrestling fans, but after the Rock left, so did we.
I liked Stone Cold Steve Austin. It was fun to watch him and Rock umm interact. I quit watching it years ago, I just see a few minutes of it every now and then with my dad.
I was really glad that the WWE is suspending and holding wrestlers accountable. I have an 8 year old son that looks up and enjoys watching these “men”. If they want to be in the public eye and be admired they need to stay straight and be proud of what they are representing. I hope that the rumor about John Cena isn’t true because he is my son’s favorite and after seeing him interact with my son in Louisville this summer I am proud my son likes him (so far)
I always liked Cena too. I actually took my dad to a show a couple of years ago, but it was really disappointing. None of the WWE stars interacted with us as it wasn’t one that was filmed for television. One of the girls, the one that carries a dog around.. maybe her name is Tori Wilson? She was absolutely insulting to the crowd. She came out and made some rude remarks about how stupid we were or something like that and then threw t-shirts into the audience. We decided then that we would not go to another show, although my dad still watches it.
WOw….I can’t believe the popular people on that list…John Cena…what a dummy!
the rumor is not true, i know for a fact, John works really hard to stay that big, hes been working out since he was 13, and he was always shy growing up so he always use to work out, he wanted to get tough so he woulndt get made fun of any more, thats it, and its not impossible to get that big, if u r determined and u have enough love ,soul , strength in ur heart, and desire anything is possible. John is an honest ,man and wen he says 100% american made muscle… HE MEANS IT! Im glad ur son got to meet him, hes such a great guy.
I cant believe you idiots thought all those guys were clean.
Nicole-you are really, really, dumb
As far as Cena goes it was legit tear, alot of the other guys have had legit injuries as well and you can’t fault them for taking what the doctor gives them to help with the recovery process. For what these guys put themselves through on a nightly basis…this stuff helps keep their bodies togeather. Excessive amounts can be damaging, but reasonable dosages under medical supervision can be very benificial.
As far as Tori Wilson goes, if she’s working heel, wrestling term for bad guy, that’s her job. The heel thrives off crowd hatred aka heat. That’s when fans pay money to watch the good guy wrestlers come in and beat them up. It’s entertainment…take it for what it is. I’m glad the wellness policy is working and hopefully we won’t hear anymore about these violations of company policy…we’ll see what happens though.
Steve: I’ve always really liked Cena. I hope his injury will fully heal. He seems to be in love with the wrestling entertainment industry and I pray that he won’t become a casualty. Hopefully he is telling the truth when he says he hasn’t been doping. I really hope so. He does seem like a good guy.
As for Tori… I guess she’s doing a good job at what she does. We sure hated her. If only we could have seen her get smashed up, it would have been much better.
We felt like since the show we went to wasn’t for television, they really shortchanged us. We paid just as much as you pay for a televised one.. we’ve been to both types in the past. I remember going to the non-televised show where Roddy Piper got stabbed. I was young at the time and it was a bit scary to witness something like that. The stab was real.. wasn’t it? It sure seemed like it. Like I said, I was young.. I just remember them running across the field at the high school and then he was bleeding, and then as he recovered he became a good guy. But I don’t think that the stabbing was in the script.. or was it?
Now, I’m not saying someone needs to become a victim for it to be a good show. It just seems that the whole thing is rather half-hearted nowdays if it’s not for tv. Oh and Tori was truly a bitch in a very unappealing way that didn’t seem very scripted.. but then again, since it wasn’t for tv, they maybe didn’t have a script and so she possibly was just being part of the character with her nasty insults.
Of course I am not one of the people who thinks the show is “real”, except for the abuse on the wrestler’s bodies.. that is real. They are truly athletes, some are just better at acting than others. It’s a shame that Booker is gone, he was entertaining. But I don’t really watch it much anymore anyway, just every now and then with my dad because he still follows it.
THATS BULLSHIT cena doesnt use them that rumor not true and most of the steriod users do have rage its not the wwe fault they need to hold each superstar responcible for their own actions
Nick – I hope he doesn’t. And I agree, each person has to be responsible for their own actions.
I can almost guarantee that this was a rumor about Cena doing steroids. It is a fact that John Cena works his ass off to stay in the physical shape that he is in. He trains like an animal; he is the true definition of a gym rat.
If you watch his DVD, they discuss a lot of how he trains and works out, some of the techniques he uses people haven’t done in years, for instance, doing squats barefooted.
He gives it his all until there is nothing left. He has described himself as puking during some workouts because he was that tired and physically fried.
Now I don’t know what you call that but I call it determination and guts. People are going to believe what they want. So let them. Cena has been hated by so many people so it wouldn’t surprise me if this rumor was started by some belligerent rat jack-ass who is trying to cause mass uproar because of his hate towards John.
Bottom line is, unless I see John Cena taking steroids, any accusations aimed at him will be treated as asshole talk by me.
I think it a shame that these wrestlers risk life a limb in order to maintain there image.
Not to mention the risk of suspensions from WWE.
It’s a shame that anyone would risk their life and health for a body image.
It is a shame with all the WWE suspensions, Because it will lead to the WWE shooting themselves on the foot, when they start losing all there stars.
The comments about john cena are incorrect. Cena just works really hard for it.
i think cena batista rey all those big names are all rolemodels to kids so they should come out and tell the TRUTH. wwe has to stop with all these drug scandels alot of there wwe fans are not watching its getting boring example:same old story line someone gets injured someone gets cought taking something then the wwe makes excuses like santino wwe said he did drugs but its not there fault because he wasnt sighned yet. what im trying to say is wwe is going to run out of buissnes soon
Cena can sue me if he wants be he was not injured he u
he used that as a excuse so he did not look like
he does steroids. THE JERK!
FANTASTIC!
This topic is quite hot in the net at the moment. What do you pay attention to while choosing what to write about?
Cena used steroids? Doubtfully!
LOL funaki????
man i dont believe that batista was on the list
btw booker t was tested positive because he had a surgery and needed it
chris masters no doubt
chavo for sure, he got bigger and more lean
john morrison for sure, that guys abs are unreal man and his ripped like a son of a bitch
John Cena does NOT I REAPEAT NOT Do STEROIDS
Sweet post man. I definitly agree with what you had to say, I just wonder how TNA is going to compete with WWE using so many old wrestlers? What is your thoughts?
